Our Story

Cameroonian Youth Association of Calgary

The Cameroonian Youth Association is a non-governmental and non- profit society founded on the 5th of July 2020 by 5 youths of Cameroonian origin who saw the value in coming together with their fellow brothers and sisters to uplift and sustain the values of their motherland in their residing city of Calgary. As Canadians, we pride ourselves in the diversity of our beautiful country and the creation of opportunities for everyone. As west Africans, we come with a lot of diversity, talents, and potentials. We are a safe space where Calgarians of the Cameroonian bloodline could come together with one another irrespective of ETHNICITY or LANGUAGE to discuss measures in which we could promote the Cameroonian culture in the city of Calgary, while empowering one another to building a better personality in the society. We are committed to going above and beyond to make sure our Vision and Mission are both accomplished while maintaining our core values.

A continent within a continent’ could be the best phrase to describe this beautiful country. Despite being a small country, Cameroon is home to all the diverse cultures of Africa and is hence, rightly called the Miniature of Africa. The world’s most poisonous lake, the rare white–striped deer, the pygmies, the lush green rainforests are all found in one country called Cameroon. One of the important facts is that the country is known for its thermal springs and an active volcano, Mount Cameroon. Although Douala is the largest city in Cameroon, Yaoundé is its capital city.
